HYROX is a global fitness race run to the same format at every event worldwide. As a HYROX Training Club, the Adelaide Club gives members a place to train for it in the Financial District, whether you're working toward your first race or already compete.

What HYROX actually is

The format is a 1km run followed by one functional workout station, repeated eight times. That comes to eight kilometres of running and eight stations in total.

Because the format never changes, a finish time in Toronto compares directly to one in London or anywhere else, which is what lets HYROX run a single global leaderboard. It's built for everyone from first-timers to seasoned athletes, so it doesn't assume a competitive background.

The Adelaide Club HYROX Experience

What sets us apart? We feature a dedicated turf with the full official HYROX length, paired with professional-grade gear to give you a complete training ground. Whether you're prepping for the race floor or simply want to build functional strength and an unstoppable engine for everyday life, classes kick off in September 2026 – schedule dropping soon.

Class Etiquette

Our HYROX classes begin with a 15-minute setup before the posted start time, followed by 45 minutes of class. We love that this is a shared space, and we want everyone — whether you're joining the class, training around it, or coaching your own clients nearby — to feel welcome and in the loop. Here's how we'll make it work beautifully for everyone.

The eight stations

Every race follows the exact same structure: an 8 km total running distance broken down into 1 km runs before each of the eight functional stations. The running distance and station layout remain identical across every category; the only variables that change are the weights.

Note: Weights are listed for (Women's Open / Women's Pro / Men's Open / Men's Pro).

The order is deliberate: five stations are loaded and three (SkiErg, burpee broad jumps, row) use only your bodyweight or a machine. Fatigue is designed to carry from one station into the next, which is why training the movements in race order matters as much as training them on their own.

Finding your division

There are four ways to take part. Open is the standard challenge. Pro adds heavier weights for experienced racers. Doubles lets two people share the stations while both run the full distance. Relay splits the race four ways. Most people new to it start in Open or Doubles.

A race to train toward

HYROX comes to Toronto from 1 to 4 October 2026, at the Enercare Centre on Princes' Boulevard. The Toronto race is one of the largest on the North American calendar, with just under 7,000 athletes in 2025, so it's a realistic target to build a training block around.

FAQs

HYROX is a global fitness race combining eight 1km runs with eight functional stations, always in the same order — so times are comparable worldwide.

At the Adelaide Club — an official HYROX Training Club located in First Canadian Place in downtown Toronto. The Club offers training built around the eight official HYROX race stations.

The Adelaide Club has full official HYROX-length turf, plus premium gear — Centr sleds, sandbags, medicine balls, kettlebells, official-height wall ball targets, Concept2 SkiErgs and RowErgs, and curved treadmills.

The Adelaide Club has certified coaches with real race experience, high-energy classes with music matched to intensity, plus challenges like the HYROX Conditioning Test, format-based challenges, and in-gym events.

The main difference is consistency. A HYROX race runs the same eight stations and eight runs at every event worldwide, while CrossFit workouts change daily and vary between competitions. That fixed format lets you train for exactly what race day demands and compare your time directly against athletes anywhere. HYROX also leans more heavily on running and sustained endurance than most CrossFit programming.

No. You can train the HYROX format purely as strength and conditioning, whether or not you ever enter a race. The eight stations are built for every fitness level, from first-timers to experienced athletes, and the Open division uses accessible weights you can scale to suit you. Most members train the movements simply because they carry over well to everyday fitness, and the equipment and support at the Adelaide Club are there for you either way. If you do decide to race, the fitness team can help you prepare for it.

Members can speak to the fitness team to build HYROX training into their program. If you're not yet a member, book a club visit to see the space and learn how membership works. The Adelaide Club is located in First Canadian Place in downtown Toronto, a short walk from Union Station and connected to the PATH.

Yes. The Doubles format pairs two people who both run the full distance and share the work at each station however they choose. It's one of the most common ways to take on a first HYROX, and members can train for it together at the Adelaide Club.

Yes. The Relay format splits the race across a team of four, with each person taking two runs and two stations. It works well for groups of colleagues and makes a strong team-building option for companies in the Financial District, and members can train for it together ahead of an event.

No. HYROX runs age group divisions and adaptive divisions, and the race is designed for a wide range of fitness levels rather than only competitive athletes. The Open division lets you scale the weights, and the fitness team can help you build up safely if you're newer to this kind of training.

No. HYROX is for everybody and every body, from complete beginners to experienced athletes. Classes are coached and scaled to your level, building strength, endurance, and cardio as you go.

The benefit of HYROX training at the Adelaide Club is that the movements are scalable to your ability, and our coaches can adjust load, pace, and exercises to keep your workout joint-friendly. HYROX training can be an excellent choice for those returning from injury or those new to training.

That's no problem. Running can be scaled back to a power walk, still raising your heart rate, burning calories, and building your engine and cardio throughout your training session.

The Adelaide Club is officially launching HYROX classes on September 14th, offering a special two-week launch that features additional classes throughout the week. Our regular scheduled programming begins on September 28th. Check out our schedule to find class times.

During HYROX classes, equipment needed for the class will be clearly marked as reserved. As soon as class is over, all equipment will be released and made available for all Members as quickly as possible. If you're unsure if you can use the HYROX equipment during a class, please speak to one of our HYROX coaches.

Yes, but only if there's still room in the class. Each class is capped at 12 members, so please check with the coach before class begins to see if there's space. To avoid disappointment, register on your app in advance.

You don't need much! Be sure your shoes are suited to both running and lifting. And you'll definitely want to bring a water bottle and towel.

HYROX classes are included in your Adelaide Club membership. If you're not a Member yet, click here to book your Club visit.

The HYROX coach on the floor during class is a great resource for all of your in-the-moment questions. Our HYROX Head Coach Luis is also available at any time.
