Five Reasons a Director of M&A Concentrates on Strength

With little time to exercise but a determination to see results, you need to be efficient with your workouts. We spent time with our longstanding member, Enrique, a Director of M&A Integrations at one of Toronto’s leading banks, to discuss how he balances his professional ambitions and personal time in pursuit of his fitness goals.

Why do you train at the Adelaide Club?

I was originally introduced to the Adelaide Club by a friend, and its location was convenient. It quickly became less about convenience and more about community.

Why Strength Lab?

The classes are small, laser-focused on strength, and I’m able to fit them into my schedule. I also love that I can unwind with other Adelaide Club members, trainers and staff – who I consider friends – after a rewarding workout. It’s more than a gym. It’s a community.

Why Strength Lab is a timely & results-driven workout:

 Enrique, Director of M&A Integrations has been a member at the Adelaide since 2016.

1. Quick and convenient

Strength Lab classes are 45 to 60 minutes long. You go in, you work hard, and then you’re done! Because the Adelaide Club is in the heart of the financial district and many of my friends now work out there, it helps me stay consistent.

2. Stress relief

When I’m going through a workout of the day (WOD), it’s a welcome break from the stress that’s common at the corner of King and Bay.

I see Strength Lab classes as a getaway. I’m able to turn my focus in on making physical progress. It’s a nice escape from a hectic routine, and I’d highly recommend it for like-minded people with similar schedules.

3. Engaged, experienced instructors

Maximizing your time and energy at the gym requires quality instruction, and the Adelaide Club has knowledgeable and engaged trainers that help perfect form and maximize gains.

I trust Keren and Tevin, who are incredible instructors. Each class starts with a dynamic warm-up, followed by skill and strength work, and finishes with metabolic conditioning. Every class is different – here’s what a WOD can look like:

Warm Up:

  • High knees
  • Butt kicks
  • Lunge & reach
  • Inchworm and push up
  • Hip openers
  • Zombie walk

WOD “Fight Gone Bad-ish”

3 rounds, maximum capacity, 1 minute each:

  • Wall balls
  • Sumo deadlift high pullups
  • Box jumps
  • Push press
  • Burpee over bar
  • Rest

4. Great community and friends

The Adelaide Club is a community, so it’s easy to make friends with members. Even the trainers and coaches are mindful and proactive at introducing members to one another – we all motivate each other to keep coming back and push each other to work hard.

5. Fast progress

More than anything, I’ve enjoyed my results. Strength Lab has completely changed the way I commit to my workouts. When you try out a class and you see results fairly quickly …  it’s the best motivator to keep coming back.
