At 16 years old, I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Stage 4B. My treatment – and it’s side effects – took a toll on me both physically and mentally, that would lead me into a post-treatment depression, a dramatic weight gain, and an even more dramatic weight loss.
Fitness gave me a sense of control over my health and insight into how much better I was capable of feeling, this became something I wanted to share with others.
I went to Humber College for Fitness and Health Promotion and, over the years, have taken several courses, tailored towards addressing strength and conditioning systemically, mobility/flexibility comprehensively, and exercise selection personally.
Holistically, balancing fitness and health is not a measure of your capacities at extremes but a measure of the sustained consistency in all things increasing your capacities. Whether it is getting back to where you once were and/or discovering what you’re capable of, it is about taking the time to pay attention to where you are between those two points and getting started.
