| I have been doing pilates now for ten or so years and always as a private student of Doug Hamburgh's, having followed him to the Adelaide Club from Stott Studio.
When I first started, I was just beginning to get active again after some years of being mostly bedridden with severe chronic fatigue syndrome. Having slways been an athlete and being a "type A" personality, it took someone like Doug to help me in my recovery.
Doug has always shown a great intuitive sense of what I needed and that was to keep me in a very quiet state so that I could connect to my body and start to listen to it's new reality. My natural inclination would have been to make pilates into an extreme sport had I been given any latitude to do that. Fortunately, I wasn't.
Doug is very in touch with how the body connects, and he never allows me to overdo it. His constant and unwavering encouragement makes me feel like a "star" and he knows how correct without ever making me feel inadequate.
He is extremely considerate of personal as well as collective space; he is professional, punctual, gracious and fun. Having been an accomplished dancer, Doug could let his own ego get in the way...instead, he seems quite without ego, hence his is very Zen like teaching method ..a kind of non teaching. This allows for greater learning since both parties are empowered and open. His humanity and compassion are always present and it has been a great joy and privilege to work with him all these years.
The Adelaide Cub is fortunate to have Doug as an instructor for it is people of his calibre and integrity that make the club what it is.
Best regards,
Candace
Pilates and specifically Tracey Frohlick is the reason why I successfully recovered from back surgery a few years ago. Since then I swear by my weekly pilates sessions with Tracey and credit her relentless and detailed instruction for improving my posture and strengthening my core. I have now been able to resume running and other activities without any issues!

Pilates at the Adelaide Club has changed my life! I have suffered with shoulder and neck pain for many years due to injury and computer work.
I started doing Pilates in 2005 and the difference in my health is incredible. I began with private classes to learn the basics and now do semi-private classes with my husband. Both my husband and I are runners and have found Pilates to be an integral part of keeping us healthy and injury free. Through careful instruction and an effective program, Lisa has improved our flexibility and fitness level and enhanced our overall body awareness. Pilates has become an important part of our lives and we thoroughly enjoy including it in our workout schedule.
